Pigtail Insertion

It is a procedure wherein a small curved tube in the shape of pigs tail is inserted in the fluid, collection, blood or pus pockets.

This tube can be inserted in the pericardial cavity to prevent cardiac tamponade, chest cavity to drain pleual effusion or empyema, abdomen cavity to drain ascitis, liver for liver abscess or cyst kidney or renal abscess or cyst, peri nephric collection , peri hepatic collection or gall bladder called as cholecystectomy or any cyst.

Pigtail insertion helps to drain the fluid For a longer duration show that subsequent fluid formation can keep on draining training without another needle insertion.
