It is procedure where we remove fluid or cells, using small needle, from the body part like tumour, kidney, lungs, lymph nodes, fluid collection etc. This helps us to diagnose the disease or cancers and guides us in further treatment. It can be done with the help of Ultrasound/ USG/ Sonography and CT scan. As compared to Biopsy, FNAC has less chance of diagnosing the disease. Also, with the material obtained by FNAC very few tests can be done on the sample.

IT IS ALWAYS ADVISABLE TO DO BIOPSY RATHER THAN FNAC WHERE EVER POSSIBLE.
